Jurors for the 2008 Dancing Horse Farm Equine Art Show

Alecia Berry Underhill, of N. Grosvenordale, Connecticut won "Best in Show" in the 2008 DHF Equine Art Show. She has a BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design, is an associate member of the American Academy of Equine Art (AAEA) and a member of the Equine Art Guild . She is the 2009 poster artist for the Draft Horse Classic, and has exhibited with many juried and invitational shows, including the AAEA, Crossgate Gallery, Attleboro Arts Museum, and RISD. She created two panels for the Mural Mosaic project, Le Cadeau du Cheval, and is the illustrator of the Horses from A to Z alphabet poster. You can see Alecia's work at www.aleciaunderhill.com.

Cathy A. Choyce of Purcellville, Virginia, is primarily a self-taught artist whose expertise from years of training and judging horses shows in her beautifully detailed sculptures, drawings and paintings. Cathy has improved her skills through American Academy of Equine Art workshops with Kathy Freidenberg and Karen Kasper. She has won awards at the Draft Horse Classic and done numerous portraits. Cathy is a member of the Realistic Sculpture Society and the Equine Art Guild. You can see her work at www.ArtisticHandStudio.com.

Patricia Getha of Ostrander, Ohio, is known for her drawings, painting and photography. Primarily a commission artist, she is a member of the Delaware Artists Guild, The Dublin Area Art League, the Equine Art Guild and the Canine Art Guild. She has won numerous awards, including wins at the Draft Horse Classic and two Best in Show awards in photography. Her website is www.PatriciaGetha.com. Pat is the co-author of , a Walter Foster Publishing instructional book published in February 2008. Pat is a contributing artist for a second book, Drawing Horses and Ponies, published in November 2008.

Lynda Sappington of West Alexandria, Ohio, has won many prestigious shows for her sculptures, including a Best in Show at the Black Stallion Show and the Joel Meisner Foundry Award at the American Academy of Equine Art (AAEA). She has taken workshops with Gwen Reardon, Kathy Friedenberg, Karen Kasper, Elin Pendleton and Tuck Langland. Many of her sculptures are in use at some of the top horse shows in the USA and at race tracks across the US and Canada. She is the author of Sculpting 101: A Primer for the Self-taught Artist, the second edition of which was released in November 2008. Sappington has taught sculpture workshops to adults and children as well as demonstrating her work in shows across the country. Her work has been featured on the cover of “The Chronicle of the Horse” six times and her bronze, “Friesian Elegance,” one of which is in use as the Concours d’Elegance trophy for the Friesian World Championships, was included in a coffee table book from “Art Horse Magazine” published in 2008. After many years of showing Quarter Horses in hunt seat and western classes, Lynda is now riding dressage on her half-Andalusian gelding, El Paso Aricos.
